On June 17, 2024, new Minister of National Defense Koo Li-hsiung reported to the Legislative Yuan's Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee on the progress and effectiveness of the 'Sea-Air Power Enhancement Program.' He mentioned plans to establish an 'Advanced Defense Technology Task Force' to introduce mature military key technologies and products to meet operational needs more quickly. Minister Koo previously confirmed the formation of this task force under the Defense Department's Integrated Evaluation Division, to streamline resources and energy from the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology and domestic private research and innovation units. The goal is to enhance Taiwan's defense industry supply chain and accelerate the development of asymmetric warfare capabilities.
