EU and US Respond to 'China Shock 2.0'

Reported 11 months ago

The European Union and mainland China will negotiate electric vehicle tariffs. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) analysis reveals that the United States is building high walls while Europe is more welcoming in response to China's 'China Shock 2.0' global export offensive. Despite the threat, European leaders are actively seeking Chinese investments, with some experts suggesting that the EU's mild tariffs on Chinese electric cars aim to encourage Chinese companies to move their production bases to Europe. Strengthened cooperation between Europe and China could offset the risk of President Trump returning to the White House and imposing a 10% tariff on all imports, posing a major threat to Europe. If so, industrial and technological ties between Europe and China will strengthen, weakening transatlantic relations and increasing the role of Chinese electric car brands in the European market.
