EU clears law to boost domestic green tech production

Reported 6 months ago

European Union governments have formally approved the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA) in order to ensure the EU produces 40% of its clean technology equipment domestically, aiming to compete with U.S. and Chinese markets. The act is crucial for the EU's emission reduction efforts and manufacturing technology independence, especially in the face of China's dominance in solar power manufacturing. The law, set to enter force next month, aims to streamline manufacturing permits, prioritize sustainability in public tech procurement, and achieve 40% self-production by 2030 and 15% global production by 2040.
