The European Commission is planning to reduce the number of companies subject to its sustainability reporting rules, according to a draft document. This initiative aims to simplify regulations and enhance competitiveness. Proposed changes include applying rules only to companies with over 1,000 employees and a net turnover exceeding 450 million euros, compared to the current threshold of 250 employees and 40 million euros. Additionally, the EU may delay the implementation of a new due diligence law focused on human rights and environmental issues in supply chains.
