The European Union will prolong the suspension of trade countermeasures against the US until August 1, allowing more time for negotiations, after President Trump threatened a new 30% tariff on EU imports. EU leaders, while preparing additional countermeasures, prefer to reach a negotiated solution. Current countermeasures could affect around €21 billion of US goods, with another list prepared for €72 billion.
