The European Commission announced on June 12, 2024, that due to China's electric car industry benefiting from abnormal and unfair subsidies, allowing them to dump cars in Europe at low prices, the EU will levy additional anti-subsidy tariffs on Chinese-produced electric cars. The measures, starting with a 10% tariff, may increase depending on approval from EU member states. Byd will face a total tariff of 27.4%, Geely 30%, and SAIC 48.1%. Other manufacturers will see a 31% tariff. China currently imposes a 15% tariff on EU-imported cars, while the US imposes 100% punitive tariffs on Chinese electric cars.
