The UEFA European Football Championship, held every four years, is set to kick off on the 14th, with a new study by the UK consultancy company 'Global Data Retail' estimating that fans will spend £2.75 billion (approx. NT$113.2 billion) during the tournament on items like alcohol, food, and electronics. With no social distancing restrictions for the first time since the pandemic, the event is expected to provide a significant boost for the beverage and food industry. The British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) forecasts selling 20 million pints of beer (about 35.21 million liters) and an overall 300 million pints (about 5.28 billion liters) during the four-week event, bringing an extra £94 million (approx. NT$3.87 billion) in income for pub owners. Accommodation providers could see an additional £620 million (approx. NT$25.52 billion) in revenue, while the retail sector is anticipated to earn £2.1 billion (approx. NT$86.44 billion) from selling TVs and sports attire.
