According to informed European officials cited by Bloomberg, Chinese and Russian companies are developing attack drones similar to the Iranian drones deployed in Ukraine, suggesting Beijing's intention to provide lethal military assistance. Despite Western warnings against such aid, the companies reportedly began developing and testing a version of the 'Witness' drone in 2023 for shipment to Russia. Providing this type of attack drone to Russia would signify Beijing's deepening support for Russia, prompting concerns from some countries that it crosses a line into providing deadly material aid. The U.S. has yet to conclude that China is providing lethal assistance to Russia, but acknowledges differing interpretations among other countries.
