European Union Issues Fines of €500 Million to Apple and €200 Million to Meta

Reported 1 day ago

The European Union has fined Apple €500 million and Meta €200 million as part of its ongoing enforcement of digital competition rules. The fines come from Apple's prevention of app developers from offering cheaper alternatives outside its App Store, and Meta's ad policies that forced users to choose between personalized ads or paying for an ad-free experience. Both companies plan to appeal the decisions and are required to comply within 60 days to avoid further penalties.
