A J.D. Power study uncovered maintenance challenges with battery electric vehicles, revealing 266 issues per 100 EVs compared to 180 per 100 internal combustion vehicles. Tesla vehicles were particularly highlighted. The report attributed the higher number of problems in EVs to their complexity and newer technology, leading to more trips to repair shops. Tesla's quality score dipped due to design changes in newer models. Other brands affected included Rivian, Polestar, and Dodge, with Porsche having low rankings and Lexus and Genesis excelling in premium categories.
