Former Citibank Managing Director Alleges Wrongful Termination for Refusing to Provide False Data to Regulator

Reported 6 months ago

A former managing director at Citigroup, Kathleen Martin, has sued the bank and its chief operating officer, Anand Selva, alleging she was fired for opposing attempts to provide false information to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) about the bank’s data governance metrics. Martin claimed Selva wanted her to hide critical information to make the bank look better, leading her to be fired in September 2023. The lawsuit states that the data governance work was related to a 2020 OCC consent order directing Citigroup to address deficiencies in risk management, data governance, and internal controls. Martin is seeking reinstatement, back pay, and bonuses. Citigroup denies the allegations, and the OCC has not provided immediate comment.
