Former Goldman Sachs executive Beth Hammack has been named as the next president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, succeeding current president Loretta Mester. Hammack, who worked at Goldman for over 30 years, will join the Federal Open Market Committee and become a voting member in August. The appointment comes as the Fed considers whether to cut interest rates from a 23-year high, with Mester set to retire on June 30.
