In New Taipei City in May, a significant traffic accident occurred where a car inexplicably crashed into three motorcycles, resulting in three injured riders and one fatality. The driver's breathalyzer test showed no alcohol, leading investigators to suspect drug involvement. Blood tests revealed the presence of the unregulated substance etomidate, known as the 'Zombie Drug' overseas. The drug can cause hallucinations, unsteady behavior, and even aggression. In response to this incident, discussions are underway in Taiwan regarding the regulation of etomidate in electronic cigarettes and the need for proper drug driving standards beyond urine tests.
