On June 29, 2024, in Taipei City's Zhongshan District, an elderly man around 90 years old, known as the ‘Scratch Master,’ was caught on camera scratching cars along the road with a key. Within a month, he damaged 4 cars, of which 2 were consecutively vandalized. The prosecutor charged him with vandalism, but the elderly man initially denied the accusations. Eventually, with the intervention of the neighborhood chief, a settlement was reached where besides the repair costs, each car owner was compensated 30,000 NT dollars. The surveillance footage captured the elderly man leaving scratches on cars along the alleys, leaving car owners puzzled as their vehicles were damaged for no apparent reason.
