Exclusive: Not All Nuts are Healthy! 2 Types are Harmful to the Kidneys, Doctor Issues Warning: Detoxification Needed

Reported 9 months ago

Nuts are commonly seen as a good source of healthy fats and proteins, but Dr. Jiang Shoushan, a kidney specialist, warns that cashews and almonds, high in oxalic acid, can potentially harm the kidneys when consumed in large amounts. Given that Taiwan has around 2.4 million patients with chronic kidney disease, with nearly 100,000 requiring lifelong dialysis, Dr. Jiang emphasizes the importance of being mindful about consuming foods that are harmful to the kidneys, such as oxalic acid found in certain vegetables. Drinking plenty of water is recommended as the most affordable and effective way to detoxify if one indulges in consuming high oxalic acid foods like cashews.
