Exclusive: Pediatrician Reveals Post-Pandemic Delay in Development Leading to Increase in Children with Developmental Disorders

In response to a decrease in student population but an increase in children with disabilities, especially autism, pediatricians have noted a rise in cases of developmental delays post-COVID-19. Factors such as lack of outdoor interaction and dialogue with the outside world have affected language skills in children, leading to delayed development. With over double the reported cases of early childhood intervention services for developmental delays compared to a decade ago, experts suggest that environment, including the pandemic, plays a role in this increase.
