Exclusive: Platform 'Fall Prevention' Mechanism! Multiple Reminders with Warning Line and Flashing Lights

Reported 11 months ago

To prevent passengers from falling, rail transit systems in Taiwan, including trains, high-speed rail, and metro, have various protective mechanisms in place when trains arrive at stations. For example, the Taichung MRT Green Line has 18 stations with 150cm half-height platform doors to separate platforms and tracks. High-speed rail and Taiwan Railways have warning lines and flashing lights on platforms to remind passengers to maintain a safe distance and prevent accidents. Station staff closely monitor platforms, ensuring safety before signaling departures. However, some passengers feel existing protections are insufficient, suggesting improvements like those seen in Japan. Each station also has surveillance, emergency stop buttons located every 50 meters, and other safety measures implemented by rail operators. Taichung MRT trains precisely align with platform doors to prevent falls.
