Taiwanese police in Taichung took a soft approach to law enforcement by first informing and then taking action to tackle the issue of illegal roadside stalls at the popular Nan Tun Market. By conducting meetings with the vendors' self-governing association before enforcement, and through a three-month process, the number of fines dropped significantly from 68 in the second half of 2023 to only 3 in the first half of 2024. The cooperative effort resulted in a cleaner and more orderly market environment, benefiting both vendors and the public.
