On June 28, 2024, a suspect, identified as Liao, rammed into the Taiwanese Presidential Office twice in one day. The first incident occurred at 2 a.m. when Liao drove another car into a restricted area. Later, around 10 a.m., Liao drove a white SUV directly towards the Presidential Office and crashed into a steel flower bed. Police discovered weapons inside the car, including a gas gun and a knife. Liao claimed the actions were to get attention for women's rights and protest against the former President Tsai Ing-wen. Liao was fined 5000 NT and the weapons were confiscated by the court to prevent further incidents. Thankfully, there were no casualties.
