On June 17, 2024, at 8:20 am, reporters Lai Xinyi and Wang Yixuan from SET News reported that yesterday afternoon, the Dake Xi in Tai Shan, New Taipei City, was found to have bright orange-red wastewater possibly illegally discharged, staining the entire river. The Environmental Protection Bureau immediately investigated and discovered that a leather factory on Section 3 of Tailin Road was suspected of dumping pigment wastewater into the drainage ditch, leading to fines under the law. Despite the discharged water-soluble pigment not containing heavy metal residues, the bureau will impose strict penalties to prevent further environmental harm caused by the factory.
