Exclusive: Tire Tracks Found on Asphalt Road Raise Quality Concerns, Engineer Clarifies

Reported about 1 year ago

In the scorching summer heat, the quality of laying asphalt roads is put to the test. When two distinct tire tracks appeared on a newly improved section of Zhongxing Road in Nantou City, concerns were raised about the road's durability. However, an engineer clarified that the tracks were likely caused by a large vehicle mistakenly entering the freshly sprayed sticky layer and driving over the newly laid asphalt, leaving marks rather than damaging the road. He explained the asphalt needs to cool to 50 degrees before it can be driven on, with longer cooling times required in high summer temperatures compared to winter. To prevent inadvertent damage, volunteer traffic control was employed during road closure and asphalt laying. It stressed the importance of allowing the asphalt to fully solidify before reopening the road to traffic.
