Former New Power Party legislator Cheng Hsiu-ling, who previously served as a professor in the Department of Economics at National Taiwan University, announced her departure from the New Power Party through media on June 15, criticizing Kuomintang and People First Party legislators, including Huang Kuo-chang, for becoming 'self-inflated emperors' and intentionally causing difficulties for the new government. In response to her mentor's accusations, Huang Kuo-chang expressed respect for Cheng Hsiu-ling and is willing to humbly listen to feedback. Cheng Hsiu-ling, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect between the Legislative Yuan and Executive Yuan, accused certain legislators of acting as 'self-inflated emperors,' deliberately causing trouble and dragging their feet. Huang Kuo-chang reiterated that the New Power Party has been advocating for legislative reform, believing that strengthening the oversight and investigative mechanisms of the Legislative Yuan can prevent it from becoming a legislative branch of the executive branch, allowing for the proper checks and balances in democracy, thus ensuring that no one becomes an 'emperor.'
