As the weather gets hotter, many are turning on their air conditioning to stay cool while worrying about high electricity bills. A Japanese TV program conducted experiments with an expert from Daikin Industries to determine the most cost-effective way to stay cool. They found that increasing airflow made people feel cooler even without lowering the temperature significantly. The program emphasized that adjusting airflow is more energy-efficient than lowering the temperature, as compressor operation in air conditioning consumes the most electricity. Setting the AC to run with weaker airflow during the day significantly lowered electricity costs compared to keeping it on automatic settings. The program suggests that increasing airflow when necessary is a more efficient and cost-effective way to cool indoor spaces.
