The impact of oils on health is significant, with nutritionist Cai Zhengliang recommending that consuming plant oils with high Omega-6 content, such as sunflower oil, corn oil, grape seed oil, and peanut oil, can lead to inflammation in the body. To prevent this, Cai suggests using flaxseed oil or perilla oil as the best options, followed by canola oil or salad oil, and supplementing with nuts like walnuts. Using oils with a high Omega-3 content for cooking can help mitigate inflammation, as consuming oils high in Omega-6 may lead to the production of inflammatory mediators linked to chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and obesity. Cai advises against using single plant oils for cooking and recommends using mixed blended oils for an economical way to achieve a healthier oil balance in the diet.
