Exploring the Beauty of Taitung’s Zhongxing Hill Outpost

Reported 8 months ago

The Zhongxing Hill Outpost in Taitung County, Taiwan used to guard the Luye Creek Bridge for defense needs. It was abandoned for years after the military withdrawal and repurposed by the Huatung Valley National Scenic Area Management Office to attract tourists with its historical significance, local tribal culture, and bicycle tourism. Renovated to serve as a rest stop for bike enthusiasts and a hidden gem for railway enthusiasts due to its scenic views, it has become a popular spot for visitors. The outpost offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area, showcasing the beauty of the Dulan Mountain and Baizinan Mountain. Renovated with a mix of modern and traditional elements, including food and craft sales, the outpost now serves as a cultural hub to promote local tribal tourism and development.
