A violent explosion accompanied by a frightening fire broke out at a military ammunition depot in the capital of Chad, N'Djamena, in the Central African region. Nearby residents were awakened by the explosion, described experiencing sounds like gunfire and even seeing projectiles flying overhead. Chad's Health Minister confirmed at least 9 deaths and 46 injuries, with the possibility of the death toll rising due to severe injuries. While the government spokesperson claimed no civilian casualties, a medical center 100 meters away from the depot suffered considerable damage with no casualties. President Idriss Deby visited the explosion site, announced the establishment of an investigative team, and emphasized the need to place military storage facilities outside of urban areas for safety.
