After the summer solstice, Taiwan is experiencing scorching temperatures, with a heat index reaching 45°C on Sunday (23rd), leading to several cases of heatstroke. However, in mainland China, the extreme climate conditions are even hotter. In Xinjiang, the Flaming Mountains in Turpan reached a record-breaking ground temperature of 81°C recently. The area is known for its extreme heat, with the mountain reaching up to 47°C and the summit hitting 81°C during the hottest summer days. Visitors have reported their shoe soles almost melting in the extreme heat, with temperatures exceeding 40°C.
