According to weather expert Wu Derong, Taiwan is experiencing extreme temperatures reaching up to 36-38 degrees amidst mostly sunny weather, with areas near the mountains seeing afternoon thunderstorms and possible heavy rainfall. The heat wave is attributed to warm air masses and a lack of atmospheric stability under the influence of a Pacific high-pressure system. Precautions against sun exposure, heat stroke, and sudden heavy rain are advised as thunderstorms may bring strong winds and localized flooding. Thunderstorm activity is expected to decrease by the weekend as the high-pressure system strengthens.
