The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will continue its heightened in-person oversight of Boeing and its supplier Spirit AeroSystems, as indicated by FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker's testimony to the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee. The decision to increase inspections following an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 in-flight incident is now permanent, with added inspections throughout the production process. Boeing has submitted a quality improvement plan, committing to shifting its safety culture to address systemic quality control issues and implement necessary changes under FAA monitoring.
