As birthrates decline, private universities in Taiwan, such as Donghai University, are facing a crisis and are exploring new strategies to survive, including selling dairy products and cosmetics, merging departments, seeking assistance from foundations, and targeting recruitment from countries in Southeast Asia. Some universities like Wenzao University and Tamkang University have undergone departmental mergers to adapt to the changing landscape. Additionally, collaborations with companies and the government are being pursued to ensure the sustainability of these institutions in the face of decreasing enrollment rates.
