A fire broke out in a paint factory in Xindian District, New Taipei City, where thick smoke was seen billowing. Firefighters arrived to find the factory fully ablaze, but all employees had safely evacuated. The fire was extinguished around 6 p.m. Following the incident, complaints of a bad smell were reported in Taipei and New Taipei City due to the smoke dispersal. The fire department and environmental protection agency advised residents to stay indoors, wear masks when going out, and keep doors and windows shut to avoid the smoke affect air quality particularly in downwind areas.
