In Taipei on June 13, 2024, a woman surnamed Lin who claimed to have worked as an assistant during the term of President Lai Ching-te and Vice President Hsiao Mei-chin as legislators was arrested for falsely claiming to be a lawyer and accepting cases since 2019, writing legal documents for clients and receiving tens of thousands of dollars in fees. Despite her impressive credentials, including as a legal advisor for various companies, she never passed the bar exam, with nearly 10 reported victims of her scams from 2019 to 2024. Lin was brought in for questioning by the Taipei District Prosecutors Office and the Investigation Bureau. Disclaimer: Until proven guilty, individuals should be viewed as innocent.
