A pregnant woman in Taichung in 2019 suffered from meconium-stained amniotic fluid during childbirth, resulting in the newborn going into shock and tragically passing away. The family, dissatisfied with the hospital's actions, sued and were awarded over 14 million in compensation by the Taichung court for medical negligence. The Taiwan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology expressed concerns over the court's decision, calling for a review of the malpractice justification and compensation calculation methods, as they felt the compensation amount and calculation method were unprecedented and deemed unfair.
