A famous obstetrician, Huang Li-Xiong, and his wife fled to Canada due to allegations of fraud and tax evasion. They were extradited back to Taiwan on May 3, where Huang was found to owe over 70 million in taxes and was listed as a major tax debtor by the Shilin District Office. Due to failure to propose a repayment plan, the office issued a luxury spending ban on Huang, restricting activities like taking taxis, using high-speed rail or flights, entering hotels or nightclubs, with a monthly living expense cap of 24,000 NTD. The public is encouraged to report violations with rewards up to 1 million NTD.
