Reported about 1 year ago

A serious fire broke out at 9:07 pm on June 12, 2024, on Yanshou Road in Tucheng, New Taipei City, resulting in the death of 3 individuals. The fire originated from a 7-story residential building where a family of five resided, and was suspected to have been caused by an explosion of lithium batteries being charged inside. The homeowner, Mr. Li, discovered the fire and attempted to extinguish it with water, triggering a larger explosion that led to the spread of the fire. Despite evacuation attempts, three family members tragically lost their lives. Firefighters faced challenges due to apartment renovations hindering escape routes and the difficult removal of one victim's body from the 7th floor.
