On the evening of June 29, a family of three in Taoyuan was swept away by large waves while swimming at the seaside of Zhubei Fishing Harbor in Dayuan District. They drifted 80 meters offshore, prompting bystanders to call for help. The police and firefighters successfully rescued the family without injuries. The father and his two sons were reported to have been playing at the beach near Zhubei Fishing Harbor when a rogue wave swept them away. Civilian rescuers driving a fishing boat were instrumental in bringing them back to safety.
