At the '2024 Quit Smoking and Win Competition' award ceremony held at Taichung Prison by the Ministry of Justice, a 27-year-old student surnamed Xue, who was serving time in Tainan Prison, won the second prize for successfully quitting smoking despite a 10-year habit of two packs a day. Motivated by the unwavering support of his family, especially his wife, children, and elderly mother, Xue decided to change by using food to quit smoking and eventually succeeded. The Ministry of Justice has been organizing the 'Quit Smoking and Win Competition' since 2010, with special awards for inmates and incentives for correctional officers, promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
