Fed Expected to Hold Steady in This Week's Decision

Reported about 1 year ago

Based on various reports, the Federal Reserve (Fed) is expected to maintain current interest rates in its upcoming announcement on June 12th (Taiwan time, early morning on June 13th) due to stagnation in the US inflation battle and unexpectedly strong May labor market reports. Analysts believe the Fed is unlikely to lower rates before September. Conflicting signals in recent data such as robust labor market but weak manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for May and lowered first-quarter Gross Domestic Product (GDP) suggest a possible economic slowdown. Markets are closely watching the May Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) for clues on future rate movements. Most expect Fed members to revise this year's expected rate cut frequency from 3 to 2 in light of post-March data, with a further decrease possibly waiting for more evidence of inflation cooling.
