Fed Official Warns Inflation Still a Major Concern But One Rate Cut Likely This Year

Reported about 20 hours ago

Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic stated that high inflation continues to be the primary risk for the U.S. Federal Reserve, although recent signs of a weaker labor market may justify a single quarter-point rate cut this year. Despite inflation remaining above the Fed's 2% target for four years, Bostic emphasized the importance of price stability and noted the uncertainties surrounding trade policies and their impacts. While employment indicators are slowing, Bostic believes some easing in policy may be necessary as the Fed prepares for its meetings later this month, anticipating a 90% chance of a rate cut.
