Fed's Kashkari Hints at Possible Interest-Rate Hikes

Reported 4 months ago

Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis President Neel Kashkari mentioned that while the likelihood of raising interest rates is low, additional interest-rate increases have not been entirely dismissed. Kashkari emphasized the importance of waiting for more evidence that inflation is cooling before considering rate cuts, given the strong labor market and resilient economy. He also noted the significance of assessing the impact on demand before making new policy decisions. Fed policymakers are anticipated to maintain the current high interest rates during their upcoming June meeting.
