Fed's Kashkari is seeking substantial improvement in inflation before considering cutting rates.

Reported 4 months ago

Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank President Neel Kashkari stated in an interview that the U.S. central bank should see significant progress on inflation before considering cutting interest rates. He mentioned that the Federal Reserve should wait for many more months of positive inflation data before making such a decision, and even suggested that rate hikes could be possible if inflation does not decrease further. Kashkari had initially anticipated two interest rate cuts this year but may not require any if inflation continues to stall.
