A federal district court has permanently blocked Florida from enforcing a law that banned medical care for transgender adolescents, similar to Idaho's law. The ACLU of Idaho is also challenging Idaho's ban, and the ruling in Florida provides hope for opponents of Idaho’s law. The Florida court found the law unconstitutional under the U.S. Constitution’s equal protection clause, denouncing it as politically motivated and not based on medical science. While Idaho's ban remains in effect due to a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court, cases in other states are also ongoing. The Florida case may be appealed to a higher court, but for now, the ruling is seen as a victory against discrimination towards transgender individuals.
