The Unit 1 of Nuclear Power Plant 3 on the Hengchun Peninsula, operating for nearly 40 years, is set to shut down and be decommissioned in July and next May, respectively. The four township heads around the plant, regardless of party affiliation, all support its extension. They emphasize the stable power supply provided by the plant, low rate of industrial accidents, and the annual NT$240 million neighborly feedback fund as crucial financial support for local welfare. Residents also appreciate the job opportunities brought by the plant.
