A well-known fast food chain in Taiwan recently reported to the criminal justice department that their customer service system had received six random poisoning threats demanding 300,000 NTD each in early March. Investigation revealed that the culprit was a female honor student surnamed Ge who graduated from National Taiwan University and had previously worked in a government agency. Ge confessed that she resorted to this extreme measure due to financial difficulties. Prosecutors have charged her with attempted extortion. The incident caused concern among the public, and authorities discreetly arrested Ge in her rental unit in Xindian, New Taipei City. This case serves as a warning against providing personal information online.
