In Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a female surnamed Gao took a bus from Jinshihu Bus Terminal in Sanmin District when the driver abruptly braked, causing her to suffer a broken bone. The Kaohsiung District Court has recently ruled that the bus driver and the bus company should jointly compensate the teacher surnamed Gao NT$460,000 for the incident. The teacher sustained severe injuries that prevented her from completing 9 months of work as an elementary school Minnan language teacher and sought compensation. The court found the driver at fault and fined him, while the bus company argued they had trained their employees to wait for passengers to be seated securely before departing. However, the court ultimately ordered the company and driver to pay over NT$400,000 in a joint decision.
