Fierce Heatwave Hits Taiwan: How Long Will the Terrifying High Temperatures Last? Meteorologist Wu Derong Reveals Cruel Prediction

Reported 9 months ago

In June, a scorching heatwave has struck Taiwan, with temperatures expected to remain high until next Wednesday according to meteorologist Wu Derong. This intense summer heat is caused by Taiwan being situated at the southern edge of the Mei-Yu front and under the influence of the Pacific high-pressure system, leading to temperatures nearing 40 degrees in cities like Kaohsiung. Thunderstorms are predicted in mountainous areas, while lowlands will experience extreme heat, with Taipei and southern regions reaching the mid to high 30s and possibly exceeding 38 degrees. The hot weather is expected to continue for at least another week with a risk of localized severe thunderstorms and strong winds. Residents are advised to take precautions.
