Filipino-Chinese Mayor Alice Guo is suspected of assuming a false identity to work for China due to her involvement with an offshore gaming operator. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) found that her fingerprints match those of another woman, Guo Hua Ping, who arrived in the Philippines from China in 2003 as a teenager. Senator Risa Hontiveros revealed the investigation and criticized Guo for potentially being a Chinese citizen pretending to be Filipino to facilitate criminal activities in the gaming industry. Authorities raided an offshore gaming facility in Tarlac province in March, leading to further scrutiny of Guo's identity.
