During a legislative session, KMT legislator Niu Hsu-ting asked the Financial Minister Chu Tsui-yun and Premier Su Tseng-chang about the targets of the upcoming Property Hoarding Tax 2.0 set to be implemented in July, yet both officials could not provide a clear answer. The tax aims to encourage property owners to utilize their properties effectively, with lower tax rates for owner-occupiers and higher rates for empty properties. However, when pressed for specific targets by Niu, both officials lacked data and deferred providing a detailed response, emphasizing the need for further analysis before the policy implementation. Niu also emphasized the importance of considering the majority of employees in Taiwan working in small and medium-sized enterprises, highlighting the need for government support beyond the focus on high-tech industries.
