A fire broke out at the well-known Yakiniku restaurant 'Yi Ren Shao Rou' on Xiangshang Road in West District, Taichung City, causing the death of a 20-year-old surnamed Zheng, a part-time worker, and serious injuries to another 23-year-old named Peng, who were both students at Chung Shan Medical University. The university expressed deep regret upon learning of the tragic news. The accident occurred when the two part-time workers were resting inside the shop, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Firefighters arrived at the scene with 19 fire trucks and ambulances to extinguish the blaze that spread to neighboring establishments before finding the two students in the kitchen. Zheng passed away due to severe injuries, while Peng is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
