A fire broke out at a pet store on Zhongshan Road in Hualien City, Taiwan, last night, spreading rapidly to surrounding shops, resulting in the death of one pet and the destruction of five buildings. Firefighters battled the blaze for 2.5 hours before gaining control, with the cause of the fire still under investigation. Numerous dogs were rescued from the flames, but one pet perished in the incident. The aging structures and wooden interiors of the affected buildings fueled the fire, causing extensive damage. Firefighters worked throughout the night to contain the fire, with the situation ultimately under control by 11:40 p.m., with extinguishing efforts continuing until early morning.
